Dune Code Update 02/04/2026

DOWNLOAD UPDATE:

1. Download the current update file from here. — The previous releases are now linked on the update history page – just click on the version number link.

2. Unzip the update file to extract the “dune.fun” file.

3. Place that “dune.fun” file on to a USB thumb drive (32GB, Formatted FAT32 32kb and USB 3.0 recommended) Please note, do not format the usb drive with a Mac or Chromebook.

4. Open the backbox of the game and locate the PC (it’s the little black box in the middle)

5. With the game booted up (yes really it needs to be on) and running, insert the USB thumb drive into any open USB port.

6. The game will automatically update.

7. When the update is complete, The screen will prompt you to remove the thumb drive.

8. When you remove the thumb drive, the game will restart.

If you're updating from OLDER than 2026.11.25 the following applies:
Due to updated worm board firmware in this build - after
the worm does it's initialization on first boot, you'll need to
use the Worm utility to adjust your "flush height" to make sure
the top of the worm is even with the playfield.

- FEDAYKIN UPDATES:
  - Fedaykin is only available to start DURING a harvester battle and 
    IF you locked a ball in the trap before starting (There is a setting 
    to allow lock + start during if desired)
  - On the first Fedaykin MB the jackpot is lit to start.  Subsequent
    multiballs will require a sand trap shot to light the first jackpot.
  - Fedaykin fills all the harkonnen shots on the playfield on start and
    a thopter is added.
  - Re-lighthing Fedaykin jackpot will also add another thopter and refill
    the harkonnen soldier shots again.
  - While Fedaykin is live, ALL points are boosted for kills/thopters/harvester
  - While Fedaykin is running, water is not allowed to run out completely;
    will stop decreasing at 10 left, if you drain out of Fedaykin before 
    killing the harvester, water drain resumes and the battle can end.
  - After the harvester is destroyed, if Fedaykin is still running you 
    attack more harvesters, the sacrifice is delayed and you continue with
    soldiers/thopters and any shot through the harvester is like a victory lap.
  - If you drain to 1 ball after killing the harvester, the sacrifice phase
    begins and any shot that had Harkonnen killed on it can be collected for
    water; the more that got killed there the higher the water given.
- ADDED: New feature setting for new Fedaykin MB for lock stealing (stolen
         locked balls have to be re-locked)
- ADDED: New feature setting for new Fedaykin MB for re-qualification 
         difficulty scaling.
- ADDED: A new "boosted" volume setting that is used in Arena and Dune modes. 
         By default, it does nothing, but if you raise it above zero, those 
         modes are louder than general gameplay. Each digit on this setting 
         is +1 to the main volume setting.
- ADDED: Optional select for the first 3 DUNE modes (on by default).
- ADDED: On screen notification for water/spice capacity increases.
- ADDED: New indication blink for super spinners.
- ADDED: Match atmospheric lightshows for win/lose.
- ADDED: Intro lightshow for Prophecy: Train

- ADDED: "Player Up" display for multiplayer games was missing.
- FIXED: A bug in the arrow 'shine' if there were 2 shine colors and 1 is removed.
- FIXED: There was a bug with delays created by display parts that wouldn't get
         cleared on forced reset.
- FIXED: Time control was still reading switches outside of gameplay, which 
         would cause errors.
- FIXED: The bug that left the worm mech incommunicado after opening the coin 
         door is fixed.
- FIXED: There was a bug in pausing the 'combos' timer.
- FIXED: Snork item count details wrong at start of ball 2+ in certain conditions.
- FIXED: Due to a naming mistake, the replay auto-adjust never actually got 
         processed.
- FIXED: pain box getting stuck in a bad state if a ball is force drained after 
         it falls back in to the box after snork activation.
- FIXED: Prophecy Survive wasn't behaving correctly in tournament mode.
- FIXED: Handling of the drop target reset timing was rebuilt to avoid race 
         conditions that leave the drops in a disabled state.
- FIXED: Battle didn't have a points total screen if you drained before 
         destroying the harvester.
- FIXED: Prophecy Fight had some bad logic around ramp diverter position that 
         could end up very confused.
- FIXED: There was an error that would re-enable the worm catch after choosing 
         to play on in Rescue.
- FIXED: Liberate Arrakis final hurryup didn't clean up properly if player 
         drained/tilted while it was running.  Would cause problems if another
         player played Liberate after that.
- CHANGED: Bene Gesserit Award title includes number.
- CHANGED: Harvester Destroyed display includes number.
- CHANGED: Tilt drains all water/spice reserves.
- CHANGED: Super spinners stay lit for the entire day/night.
- CHANGED: Letter scrolling in high score entry improved a bit.
- CHANGED: Pain Box cheaters have more reason to fear.
- UPDATED: Feature settings cleaned up and numbered for the manual
